Obituary: |
|
We wish to place on record the sad demise of Miklos Tomka on 25th November, 2010. He was a former member of the Concilium Foundation. Born in 1941 he was an important Hungarian sociologist of religion from Budapest, in particular. His scientific expertise was in demand internationally. He was also a remarkable man, an amiable fellow, a leveling character and a good friend.
In the year 2001 Miklos Tomka received "Doctor honoris causa" from the University of Vienna. His international reputation led to many invited talks and keynote speeches at conferences, so that his workload was definitely worth noting.
As Editorial Board member of Concilium, he contributed to enlighten us on the situation of religion and Christianity in Central and Eastern Europe. |
